PRIMARY DETAIL • Salary Package: Level C ($141,376 - $162,584 p.a) or Level D ($169,789 - $186,759 p.a)., plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading • Appointment Type: Full-Time, Continuing • Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus (North Ryde) THE ROLE Macquarie School of Education (MSE) is looking to appoint an existing or emerging leader in the field of Psychology in Education to contribute to research, teaching development and leadership in the School. We are seeking a scholar with broad expertise in educational psychology, including cognitive science and neuroscience, experience of designing and leading interdisciplinary programs for teachers and education researchers, and a successful track record of research in their specialist field. The postholder will need the capacity to bridge across domains in educational psychology as well as across social sciences, arts and humanities, neuroscience and broader life sciences and lead the development of interdisciplinary research, impact and teaching. The successful candidate will provide leadership for our Psychology in Education cluster as it informs and develops MSE’s responses to current changes in teacher education and the wider policy landscape. In particular, we are looking for a candidate who is able to work across developmental psychology and cognitive science, drive the development of a science of learning that is enriched by the breadth of research in psychology as well as pedagogy and sociology of education, and biosocial education. It is our goal that the postholder will contribute to building capacity and standing in the field and work to place MSE’s teacher education and research at the forefront of education nationally and internationally. ABOUT YOU You will have a PhD (or, exceptionally, evidence of equivalent research recognition) with a strong track record in Cognitive Science in Education, Neuroscience in Education, Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, or other cogent area. You will have a sustained evidence of delivering high quality learning and teaching relating to Psychology in Education, potentially in one or more of the science of learning, child development, individual differences, or mental health for children and/or in education settings. You will have a sustained record of research and quality publications, with a growing national and international reputation and, preferably, a program of school-based research. You will have excellent research skills, and these may include ecologically valid intervention design and testing using RCTs or other rigorous methods. You will be an excellent communicator who is proactive, flexible and able to work well in teams with strong interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.
