role: Our client is a large Commonwealth department. Within its CIO
Division, the ICT Operations Branch manages all ICT services across the
organisation. The End User Services section is responsible for the
department’s communication and collaboration platforms, including the
standard operating environment (SOE), corporate device management,
Exchange, Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams. Responsibilities: You
will manage and enhance the department’s hybrid Exchange environment,
including ongoing migration of Exchange mail data to Exchange Online and
maintenance of Enterprise Vault archiving. You will investigate and
resolve complex technical problems across the messaging stack, produce
technical documentation, represent the team at project meetings and
facilitate technical workshops as required. This is a Canberra-based
onsite role; remote working will not generally be suitable for this
opportunity. Maintain Exchange Server infrastructure and Enterprise
Vault archiving solution Migrate mail data, groups and archive data to
Exchange Online Investigate and resolve complex technical problems
across the hybrid Exchange stack Develop migration approaches,
decommissioning plans and as-built/design documentation Cross-skill team
members and support related teams including the service desk Represent
the team at project meetings and facilitate technical workshops as
required Essential criteria – please do not apply unless you meet all of
the following: Expert knowledge of Exchange Server, Exchange Online and
hybrid Exchange deployments, including implementation, upgrades and
day-to-day management in a complex multi-forest environment Proven
experience in Exchange migrations including to Exchange Online,
cross-forest and from legacy Exchange versions High-level Exchange
troubleshooting skills including mail flow, mail gateway technologies
and on-premise/cloud-based resource connectivity High-level knowledge of
Windows Server fundamentals (Active Directory, DNS, DFS) and Group
Policy configuration including AGPM Experience with Australian
Government IT cyber security processes including ISM, Essential 8 and
ACSC hardening guides Strong experience writing technical documentation
including design documentation and standard operating procedures You
must hold a current Baseline security clearance at commencement – this
is non-negotiable as the role requires immediate access to PROTECTED
information and systems Desirable: Experience with Arctera Enterprise
Vault, Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MPIP), Microsoft Intune
MDM and Intune policy Experience with broader Microsoft 365 services
This is a hands-on infrastructure team within a large department’s ICT
Operations Branch. The End User Services section manages critical
communication and collaboration platforms and values deep technical
expertise. You will work alongside other infrastructure specialists in a
